Health Music
I-CHING
MUSIC FOR HEALTH CD-3114 $15.95The theory of the
Five Elements is the arrangement of all spects of the
phonomenological world into categories of Fire, Water,
Wood, Earth and Metal. During the Han Dynasty (202B.C.-220A.D.),
its principles became inseparably intertwined with the
Yin Yang theory of Changes, also known as the Yi Ching
(I-Ching). According to the "Book of Changes Cycle
of Elemental Music", Earth, Metal, Wood, Fire and
Water correspond with spleen, lung, liver, heart and kidney
respectively. These body organs also correspond with certain
musical modes . These five modes (Kung, Shang, Cheuh,
Jay, and Yu) of ancient Chinese music, through the use
of rhythm, texture, intensity and instrumentation, assist
in bringing about greater organ function efficiency.
The
music of Metal resonates with and strengthens the lung and
respiratory system. It is good for treating all respiratory
system difficulties or discomfort.
The
music of Wood resonates with and strengthens the liver organ
system, pacifying nervousness and restlessness in sleep.
The
music of Water resonates with and strengthens the kidney
organ-system. It is useful in treating swelling, ear problems
and high blood pressure.
The
music of Fire resonates with and strengthens the heart organ-system,
stabilizing the pulse.
The
music of Earth resonates with and strengthens the spleen/pancreas
organ-system, increasing appetite and improving digestion.
It also invigorates the Qi, a Chinese concept of energy
balance within each individual.

Five
Tones Healing Music
Five Tone Healing Music is also based on the theory of
that
the five cosmic tones of Chinese music correspond to the
five organs (systems) in the
human body , It helps to regulate the circulation of "Qi"
or "Life Force" in the body. The "Five
Tones" series emphasizes the five modes and instrumentation.
The five modes are based on
the five tones; the instrumentation is arranged according
to the characteristics of the five
modes. The resonant frequencies of certain modes stimulate
the flow and circulation of
"Qi" in certain parts of the body. Musically
different from the "Yi-Ching Music for Health"
of the southern style, the "Five Tones Healing Music"
presents the musical style of northern China.
It provides another alternative for health conscious individuals.
Kung
Tone relates to Earth Qi. The beginning melody is
played by a ceramic earth-make "shiuan" which
corresponds to characteristics of earth. It maintains
the
stability of Qi within the body.
Shang
Tone relates to Metal Qi. The music starts with
metallic sounds of the luo (gong) and pieng. Chung
(bells). It helps to induce the Qi inside the body.
Chueh
Tone relates to Wood Qi, which is expressed by the
di (bamboo flute) leading the melody. It helps to release
the excessive Qi inside the body.
Jyy
Tone relates to Fire Qi. The lively sonorous sound of
Sona (Chinese trumpet) creates an atmosphere full of the
characteristics of "Fire." It helps to enhance
the Qi in the body.
Yu
Tone relates to Water Qi, whose characteristic is most
fully displayed in the guqin and guzheng. It helps to
descend the Qi inside bodies.
